Olympus OM-D M1 Mark III Schutter Problem

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a used Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III, and I’ve been running into an issue. After taking about three or more shots, the shutter sometimes gets stuck. I've tried various settings, but the problem keeps happening — the screen goes black, and the camera turns off. I have to switch it off and back on to take more photos, but then it repeats the same issue.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Could it be a defect, or am I just using the wrong settings? I'd really appreciate any help or opinions.

First off: Welcome to our forum!

Now to your issue: That doesn´t sound great, unfortunatelly! I don´t think the malfunction occurs due to poor settings (but you can find out easily by executing a hard reset - as mentioned in the manual), so I guess the best thing you might do is to send the camera to Portugal. I am rather confident the service team will find and solve the issue, but I can´t tell you the price tag. Perhaps you may send a request before shipping the gear itself.

The flat-rate repair fee for the E-M1 Mark III, once it's out of warranty, will cost approximately €280 (as of 2023). The entire shutter unit will likely be replaced.
